Mathew

Having a child with autism isn’t a job that you sign up for; it’s a challenge that could break the best of us. Matthew struggles to communicate and comprehend, is not yet toilet trained, and often makes choices that we don’t understand. He does not attend to his own safety and must always have someone to watch over him. He is a 24/7 responsibility that keeps us on our toes and forever trying to stay one step in front of him.

Yet with all his challenges, Matthew continues to be a joy and blessing in our lives. He has taught us patience, compassion, understanding, and acceptance. Matthew does not judge others. He does not hate nor is he cruel. He is a happy, loving young man who has much to teach those of us in his life. Our journey with Matthew is only partly complete and it isn’t one that we would trade. We look forward to the adventures that each new day brings.
